Fiat Chrysler’s LX platform is big and heavy, two poor attributes for a racecar, but that hasn’t stopped one late model Dodge Charger owner from making his four-door one of the fastest modern-day HEMI-powered Mopars around.
YouTube’s 1320 Video recently caught up with the owner of a 1,500 horsepower Charger at Street Car Takeover in Atlanta. The Charger, powered by a Procharged 6.1-liter HEMI with forged internals and nitrous, boasts a fastest pass time of 8.8 seconds at 160 mph. Imagine how fast it would be it didn’t have to lug nearly 4,000 lbs of weight down the dragstrip.
This is one badass build, but we’re not so sure it’s the fastest modern HEMI on the planet like the owner claims. A quick search on YouTube will reveal a number of 7-second and low 8-second Dodge Challengers, including a 6.97-second car built by High Horse Performance. We’re willing to bet a couple Charger or Challenger Hellcat builds will break into the 8s eventually as well.
