We’ve said before that it takes a special (crazy) person to climb behind the wheel of the 707 horsepower Dodge Charger Hellcat and say “hmm, this could use more power.” The Smoking Tire’s Matt Farah recently met up with one of these owners and surprisingly, he seems perfectly sane.
Farah met up with said sane Hellcat owner to drive his 900 horsepower Charger Hellcat. It doesn’t take much to up the output of the four-door feline to that level, with the car in this case only receiving a new pulley, cold air intake and a modified exhaust system. These modifications have resulted in over 740 horsepower at the wheels on pump gas, equivalent to around 875 or 900 horsepower at the crank.
Another major mod the Hellcat received was shorter gears. Dodge put a longer final drive in the car in order to achieve the Charger Hellcat’s infamous 204 mph top speed, but the owner in this case wanted shorter gears for better acceleration. He also slapped some wider rubber on the rear for better traction. For his safety and those around him, that’s great news.
Hear what Farah had to say about the wildly powerful Hellcat in the video above.
