Roadkill host David Freiburger owns lots of cars. According to his biography over at Hot Rod Magazine, he’s currently in possession of around two dozen automobiles – but his current favorite is his recently purchased 1971 Plymouth Road Runner.
Freiburger says his Road Runner’s obvious imperfections make the car perfect for him. He’s wanted a 1971 model year Road Runner for a long while, but wanted to actually use the car as his everyday means of conveyance. That made a beautifully restored example off limits, so he picked up a slightly ratty yet well maintained example off of a Roadkill viewer for $11,000.
Some of the imperfections Freiburger’s car sports include a rather shoddy paint job, a worn (yet all original) interior, a tattered vinyl top and inaccuracies such as a badge placed in the wrong spot, the absence of the black contrasting center stripe and a rewrapped steering wheel. We won’t go into all the details though – he does exactly that in the video above and then some. If you ever wanted to know all there is know about 1971 model year Road Runners, be sure to give it a watch.
