Fiat Chrysler’s first ad for the 2017 Dodge Challenger GT touts the muscle car’s all-wheel drive system by showing it driving on desolate, snow covered roads.
The new spot, entitled ‘Russia’ shows the AWD Challenger GT driving on empty icy roads in Alaska. The voice-over for the ad reads: “There’s a place in America where you can almost see Russia, which means there’s a place in Russia where you can definitely hear America,” referencing American muscle car’s loud exhaust notes.
“The winter driving capability of the new Challenger GT had to be shown in a way that only Dodge can do,” said FCA’s chief marketing officer, Olivier Francois. “Bringing together the power and performance of the world’s first all-wheel-drive muscle coupe, a daunting Alaskan landscape and an adrenaline-filled soundtrack is what makes this ad so special.”
The Challenger GT features the same all-wheel drive system as the Dodge Charger sedan. The only available engine option is a 305 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6, which is paired with FCA’s ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission. The introduction of the model variant makes the Challenger the first and only American muscle car to offer all-wheel drive.
Check out the first television spot for the all-wheel drive Dodge Challenger GT embedded above. You might soon see the air on television as well, with FCA planning to air it during NBC’s “Dateline” broadcast on December 16th and CBS’ NFL football broadcast on December 18th. The ad will also air on Discovery channel and BBC America.
