The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has named the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica the ‘Best New Large Utility Vehicle’ for 2017.
AJAC judges concluded the Pacifica was the best new large utility vehicle following its annual ‘Test Fest’ event, which allows members of the Canadian automotive media to drive and test a variety of all-new or significantly improved vehicles back-to-back to gauge an opinion on them.
“To have our Canadian-made 2017 Chrysler Pacifica recognized as ‘Best New Large Utility Vehicle’ by the expert members of AJAC is a top-level endorsement,” said Chrysler Canada boss Reid Bigland. “Already this year’s most awarded minivan, this is yet another feather in Pacifica’s cap and further proof that it is unsurpassed in meeting Canadian family’s needs for a vehicle that delivers the best in utility, features, technology, style and safety.”
The Pacifica has received a number of accolades since its debut at the 2016 North American International Auto Show. It has so far been named a 2017 Autotrader.ca Top Pick, a Consumers Digest ‘Best Buy’ and was included on Car and Driver’s coveted 10Best list. The minivan also received a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
AJAC says this year’s award winners were decided following more than more than 1,384 test drives at the hands of its 60 judges and 10,000 points of subjective data entered on private ballots. The association says it uses “copious,” amounts of objective data to decide its award recipients ranging from safety features to cargo capacity and more.
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is built at Fiat Chrysler’s Windsor Assembly Plant in Windsor, Ontario. The all-new minivan starts at $45,740 in Canada.
