Alfa Romeo is currently undergoing an overhaul, with Fiat Chrysler having sidelined $7 billion in 2014 to grow the luxury brand in Europe, the U.S. and Asia. It recently launched two-all-new products, the Giulia sedan and Stelvio SUV, and plans to eventually launch two more SUVs and a full-size sedan.
One product Alfa likely won’t be getting, however, is a pickup truck. Digital rendering artist Theophilus Chin decided to illustrate what such a product might look like anyways and if we’re honest, the result isn’t that pretty. He’s slapped the front end from the 505 horsepower Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde onto the body of a Fiat Toro and equipped it with the high-performance SUV’s five-hole wheels, but despite his best efforts the imaginary pickup a bit of an awkward mess.
While the idea 505 horsepower Alfa Romeo pickup truck is pretty cool, it’s probably the last product the automaker needs in its stable right now. Mercedes-Benz may have recently introduced the X-Class pickup truck (and subsequently generated a ton of buzz around the vehicle), but Alfa needs something more profit-heavy like an SUV or a new Giulietta before it can go product-for-product with an established automaker like Mercedes. If we had it our way, Alfa’s next product launch would be a Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde station wagon.
