Maserati North America is recalling certain 2017 model year vehicles over an issue that could cause the back-up camera to become disabled.
The defect: in temperatures below freezing, the entertainment telematics module (ETM) may place itself in a protection mode, disabling the back-up camera.
The hazards: if the back-up camera is inoperable, it may be more difficult for the operator to see people or objects behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of injury or crash.
Affected vehicles: 2017 Maserati Quattroporte, Ghibli, and Levante manufactured July 1, 2016 to November 14, 2016.
Number of vehicles affected: 7,481 (United States figure).
The fix: Maserati North America will notify owners and dealers will update the ETM software, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in December 2016.
Owners should: customers looking to find out if their vehicle is included in this Maserati recall should visit the Maserati recalls page and enter their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) to see any open recalls as well as customer satisfaction programs.
