The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has been named the ‘Best Van’ by Car & Driver, earning a spot on the publication’s inaugural 10Best Trucks and SUVs list.
C&D made note of the Pacifica’s refined independent rear suspension, which improves ride quality and rough-road performance while also allowing for a low cargo load floor. It also described the 287 horsepower 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and nine-speed automatic transmission combo as “strong,” and was impressed with the 31 MPG it was able to achieve while cruising along the highway at 75 mph.
The Pacifica Hybrid was lauded for its 33-miles of all-electric range, which allows for an electric fuel economy rating of 84 eMPG. The Pacifica Hybrid uses a slightly less powerful version of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and a unique EVT transmission that houses the electric drive system.
Vehicles eligible for C&D’s 10Best list must of all new or significantly updated for the most recent model year, must start at less than $80,000 and must be on sale by January 2017. Click here to view the full 10Best Trucks and SUVs list before it’s revealed in next month’s print issue of C&D.
