Track days often attract expensive supercars like Lamborghinis, Ferraris and Porsches, but the best part about an open track day is they are open to everyone – not just the rich. As a result, you may get pedestrian hatchbacks and sedans driving on the track at the same time as supercars, which is no problem so long as everyone behaves.
A recent open track day at Monza got extra interesting when a VW Microbus showed up to partake in the fun. This wasn’t any Microbus, however. It was a fully track-prepped T1 with the flat-six engine from a 993 911 Turbo stuffed in its rear and the necessary suspension, wheel and brake upgrades to complete the package.
With these upgrades, the microbus had no problem at all keeping up with some of the sportier cars at the track that day. YouTube’s 19Bozzy92 was on hand to film the happenings, so we’ve embedded the video above. In it, we see the bus put a nice pass on a Ferrari 355 down Monza’s front straight. At one point the bus even appears to be doing a decent job of hanging with a 458 Speciale.
This is truly some grade A entertainment.
