The Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde will be the fastest SUV around the Nurburgring, Alfa Romeo has confidently proclaimed.
According to Road & Track, Alfa Romeo ran simulations that indicated its 505 horsepower Stelvio QV would lap the infamous Green Hell faster than any SUV before it.
The current SUV lap record holder on the 12.9-mile Nordschleife is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, which became the first SUV to crack the sub 8-minute mark at the track when it posted a lap of 7:59.74 last year.
Alfa may come off as a bit over confident with its claim, but it’s hard to dispute. The Giulia QV, which rides on the same athletic Giorgio platform and is powered by the same 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 engine as the Stelvio, turned in a ‘Ring lap of 7:39 earlier this year, crushing its competition by over 10 seconds.
We’ll be on stand-by waiting for the onboard lap video, Alfa.
