Most well-known car collectors have a handful of Ferraris in their garage, but not Jay Leno. The former tonight show host owns Porsches, Lamborghinis and even a Koenigsegg, but you’ll hardly ever catch him behind the wheel of a Ferrari. He once bought a Lamborghini Espada over a Ferrari 330 GTC because the Lamborghini was cheaper – a rather humorous decision in hindsight considering the Ferrari is now worth nearly half a million USD.
If there’s one car that might be able to light a Ferrari fire up under Leno it’s the Ferrari F40 – which he recently climbed behind the wheel of for an episode of his ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’ web show. Despite being around for 26 years, Leno had never had the opportunity to drive what is often referred to as the first true supercar and one of the greatest cars ever built.
The F40 featured in the episode belongs to renowned Ferrari collector David Lee. Just about every valuable Ferrari is represented in Lee’s collection, including the Enzo, LaFerrari, F50, 288 GTO and 288 GTO Evolution. Find out if Lee’s F40 was able to convert Leno to a Ferrari faithful by watching the episode embedded above.
