When we first saw spy shots of pre-production prototypes for the 2017 Jeep Compass we noted that it looked like someone had shot a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a shrink ray. It turns out we weren’t far off the mark with that analysis – Jeep pulled inspiration directly from the Grand Cherokee when drawing up the Compass.
In a new video detailing the design process of the 2017 Compass, Jeep designers revealed they wanted to ensure the Compass had a high-end, premium appearance despite its price tag. They accomplished this by ensuring the crossover had a wide, athletic stance and mature styling like the Grand Cherokee’s. Other appointments, such as the Compass Limited’s black roof and the white-bordered headlamps, also contribute to the upscale look.
The interior of the 2017 Compass continues with premium look and feel with soft touch points, carefully selected materials, a large UConnect infotainment screen and accompanying 7.0-inch digital dash display, well bolstered seats and more.
Hear what the lead exterior and interior designers of the 2017 Compass have to say about the recently introduced SUV in the video above.
