The online publication took a ‘Champion vs. Challenger’ approach to the Ultimate Minivan Challenge, pitting the Pacifica, which is the newest vehicle in its segment, against the two top-rated vans from its 2016 Ultimate Minivan Challenge. Judges drove the vans car on the same course back-to-back and a completed mileage drives to calculate real-world fuel economy.
“The Chrysler Pacifica out-styles, out-drives and just plain out-wows the rest of the pack,” said Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor-in-chief. “It is a true joy to drive; something not often used to describe a minivan. Behind the engine, the van is versatile and packed with impressive family-friendly features.”
The Pacifica beat out the Kia Sedona and Toyota Sienna to receive the distinction of ‘Best Minivan of 2016’. The Pacifica received 805 points on Cars.com’s rating scale, while the Sedona received 732 and the Sienna 644. The Pacifica was commended for its superior power, ride, handling, visibility and available rear-seat entertainment. It’s revised Stow N’ Go seating system was also lauded for its improved design.
“With the new Pacifica, Chrysler’s minivan entry went from a dog to best in show,” concluded Cars.com assistant managing editor Jennifer Geiger.
