The BBC’s Top Gear Magazine has named the 2016 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Verde its Car of the Year for 2016.
The Giulia QV, which debuted at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show, is powered by a 505 horsepower 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine and is the first Alfa Romeo vehicle to ride on the automaker’s athletic new Giorgio rear-wheel drive platform. Top Gear commended the sedan’s performance, styling and Ferrari-derived engine.
“The Giulia is modern and high-tech but the proposition is simple: engine, handling, beauty. Those are things we want from Alfa. The Giulia over-delivers,” TG said of the Giulia QV.
The Stelvio Quadrifoglio Verde joined the Giulia QV in Alfa’s lineup after the performance SUV debuted at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show earlier this month. Like the sedan, the Stelvio QV rides on Alfa’s Giorgio platform and is powered by the same 505 horsepower twin-turbo V6 engine. The Giulia QV will go on sale at U.S. Alfa dealers shortly, with the Stelvio QV doing the same sometime in mid- to late-2017.
