A JL JeepWrangler Forums member has rendered the 2018 Jeep Wrangler and using leaked photos and spy shots of the SUV, allowing us to see a digital representation of the upcoming vehicle ahead of its debut in early 2017.
The artist’s renderings also include mock-ups of the JL Jeep Wrangler pickup, which will be produced alongside the next-gen SUV at Fiat Chrysler’s Toledo Assembly plant in Ohio.
It’s rare that renderings are accurate, but it’s safe to say that these renditions aren’t far off the mark. The JL Wrangler is slated to look very similar to the current JK Wrangler and the SUV’s face has already been revealed in leaked dealer photos. Spy shots have also revealed its LED headlamps and fender-mounted LED running lights.
We also know the JL Wrangler will have a three-piece hardtop thanks to a source on JL Wrangler Forums. An example of how the three piece hardtop may work can be seen in the photo below. The Wrangler pickup will also sport a partially removable roof thanks to separate roof panels, which have also been included in the rendering of the vehicle.
FCA’s 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine will likely serve as the standard powerplant for the JL Wrangler and Wrangler pickup, with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and a 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 serving as options. A six-speed manual transmission will be offered with certain variants, while an eight-speed automatic should be available across the board.
