The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has given a five-star overall safety rating to the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4, the highest rating handed down by the institute.
The NHTSA says the 4×4 version of the Grand Cherokee received a five-star rating in its front collision, side impact with a vehicle and side impact with a pole tests.
The Grand Cherokee 4×4 also received points from judges for its 70 available safety and security features. Those include Fiat Chrysler’s Full-speed Forward Collision Warning system with Crash Mitigation, which can sense when a front collision may be imminent and bring the vehicle to a full stop if necessary.
The NHTSA had previously handed down the 4×2 version of the Grand Cherokee a five-star rating as well. To view the safety watchdog’s safety review for both the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4×4 and 4×2, click here.
