The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica has received a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the highest possible rating handed down by the government safety watchdog.
The rating compounds with the Pacifica’s Top Safety Pick+ rating it received from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) earlier this year. ‘Top Safety Pick+’ serves as the IIHS’ highest possible rating.
“These results are a clear indicator of our unwavering commitment to engineering excellence,” said FCA head of vehicle safety and regulatory compliance, Mike Dahl.
The NHTSA’s testing procedures include a frontal collision simulation, along with two side impact simulations designed the replicate impacts with a vehicle and a pole. The Pacifica received a five-star rating in all three simulations.
The Pacifica was also lauded by the NHTSA for its standard ParkView rear backup camera and available LaneSense Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Warning systems. The agency recognizes these technologies as “recommended” safety features.
