Fiat Chrysler may have axed the Chrysler 200, but the mid-size sedan will at least be able to enjoy some positive press before it bites the dust. The National Highway Traffic Safety administration has just given the front-wheel drive, 2017 model year version of the car a five-star overall safety rating, the highest rating handed down by the safety watchdog.
The 200 received five-stars in the NHTSA’s frontal collision, vehicle side impact and object side impact tests.
The 2016 model-year 200 also received a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety earlier this year.
Both agencies made note of the 200’s available Full-speed Forward Collision Warning-Plus system, which can apply the brakes at low or high speeds when it detects a collision is imminent.
