The Jeep Grand Wagoneer luxury SUV, which is due in 2018, could cost $130 to $140,000 in its range topping form, Jeep brand boss Mike Manley revealed to AutoExpress at the Paris Motor Show.
“The Grand Wagoneer concept is moving forward. It’s an exciting nameplate to bring back, I think,” Manley said.
“I don’t think there’s a maximum price ceiling per se for Jeep. If you look at the upper end of the segment in the US, for me, the Grand Wagoneer done well can compete all the way through this segment,”he added.
“I’ll use US dollars, but pushing the car up to $130,000 to $140,000 may be possible, but we need to establish Grand Wagoneer in its own right first. That’s why I wouldn’t say there’s price ceiling.”
The Grand Wagoneer will be also be joined by a less expensive Wagoneer variant. The two SUVs are expected to be the same size, but the Grand Wagoneer will be the “pinnacle of premiuim,” according to FCA, with SUVs like the Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover in its sights.
We’re expecting to see the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer debut in early 2018 before going on sale later that year or in early 2019.
