A potential prototype for the 2017 Abarth 695 Biposto was filmed undergoing test laps at the Nurburgring Nordschleife last week.
Earlier this year Fiat Chrysler introduced the updated Abarth 595 which introduced new headlamps and taillights, LED daytime running lights new front and rear fascias to the hot hatchback.
This year’s update didn’t include extend to the range-topping 695 Biposto, however, leading us to believe Abarth will introduce the updated version sometime in the near future. That would also explain why they were testing the high-performance 500 at the ‘Ring just last week.
We’re simply speculating, but it’s likely the 695 Biposto will receive similar styling updates to the new 595 and the same interior enhancements. The new Abarth 595 also includes a standard 7-inch infotainment screen with optional Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionalities, though it’s possible the system will be offered as an option on the track-focused 695.
The current 695 Biposto delivers 190 horsepower via Fiat’s 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The high-performance model also offers up a mechanical-limited slip differential, Brembo brakes, Akrapovic exhaust, racing seats with Sabelt harnesses, lightweight OZ racing wheels and an interior swathed in carbon fiber. Oh, don’t forget that awesome exposed linkage dog-ring gearbox.
