The Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel and Ram 1500 Rebel were both awarded in Carspondent.com’s 13th annual Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year” awards competition.
This year’s edition of the competition, which aims to identify the best new vehicles for those with an active lifestyle, was held at the San Marcos Golf Resort in Chandler, Arizona. The evaluation process included navigating an off-road course and driving participating vehicles on public roads.
The Grand Cherokee Summit EcoDiesel was given the Green ALV award following the test, while the Ram 1500 Rebel was awarded Best Value Off-Road honors. The award recipients re decided on by a panel of judges that includes ALV founder Bob Babbitt, a member of the Ironman Hall of Fame, and Nina Russin, a journalist and long distance runner.
“Individuals with active lifestyles don’t want the vehicles they drive to limit where they travel, or the amount of gear they can carry,” said ALV co-founder Nina Russin. “Ram Truck and Jeep proved that their vehicles perform equally well on- and off-road and offer spacious, configurable cargo areas that fill the squares for buyers who like to venture off the grid, carrying their bicycles, kayaks and camping equipment with them.”
The 2017 Grand Cherokee Summit debuted earlier this year at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show. The Ram Rebel was introduced for the 2015 model year following a debut at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
