Ram Trucks and Jeep took home more awards than any other manufacturer at the recent Texas Truck Rodeo hosted by the Texas Auto Writers Association.
The Texas Truck Rodeo allows journalists to experience the latest truck and SUV offerings over the course of two days both on- and off-road. When the driving has concluded, participants place their votes for the strongest vehicles in the test.
The Ram 1500 Rebel was the most driven truck in the entire test, while the Ram Power Wagon topped judging criteria in several areas including appearance, performance and appeal. The Jeep Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, Cherokee and Renegade also won their respective categories. Additionally, the Ram 1500 Longhorn was awarded the ‘Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas’ designation.
“The Ram 1500 Rebel was the most driven single vehicle in the competition with 33 runs on our challenging on- and off-road courses,” said TAWA president Nic Phillips. “Ram’s debut of the 2017 2500 Power Wagon set new benchmarks in our scoring system with the highest figures in the exterior, performance and personal appeal dimensions across all vehicles in the competition. That’s a most impressive feat given all the vehicles we had on hand and the fact that Ram chose the Texas Truck Rodeo for the first-ever media drives and evaluations of its most extreme off-road trucks speaks to the seriousness of our competition. The Ram 1500 Longhorn’s luxurious interior looks like it was made for Texans, resonating the most with our journalists naming it the Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas.”
The Texas Truck Rodeo is an annual event held by TAWA that looks to find the year’s best pickups and SUVs on offer. The state is a huge market for Ram, which is why they decided to launch the Ram Lone Star Silver Edition and Ram Rebel TRX concept at the recent State Fair of Texas. Someone loved the Lone Star Silver Edition so much, they stole the emblems off of it. If you’re a Texan that drives a particularly nice Ram, you should probably let that story serve as a warning.
