Fiat Chrysler performed poorly in Consumer Reports’ annual Car Reliability Survey for 2016, with Dodge, Chrysler, Fiat and Ram representing the four least reliable brands in the survey.
In addition to its brands ranking among the least reliable, four of its cars made CR’s list of the 10 Least Reliable Cars on sale today: the Fiat 500L, Chrysler 200, Jeep Renegade and Ram 2500 HD.
CR gathers data for its annual Car Reliability Survey by sending its subscribers the survey and having them fill out information on new car ownership experience. The publication says this year it gathered data on more than half a million vehicles spanning more than 300 models from 2000 to 2016, along with some early 2017 models.
CR ranks its brands using a Predicted Reliability Score, which was converted to a 0-100 point scale for this year. The brand with the highest predicted reliability for 2017 is Lexus with 86 points. Dodge and Chrysler received a rating of 28 and 26, respectively. Fiat received a score of 17, while Ram was last among the ranked brands with 16 points.
