Fiat Chrysler has been presented with a Clio Award for its co-branded ad campaign with Paramount Pictures for the Fiat 500X and Zoolander 2.
The campaign took gold in the Clio Key Art Awards’ “Theatrical Partnerships” category, beating out Audi and Marvel Studios’ partnership campaign entitled ‘The Chase’.
FCA’s Zoolander 2 ad was directed by Jeff Mann and stars Ben Stiller in character as Zoolander. As the male model drives past a speed camera, he notices it take a picture of him, causing him to speed past the camera several times more as he poses for it. It concludes with Zoolander being approached by a police officer, to whom he proclaims “I know. I was driving while hot.”
“Our marketing approach at FCA is to continually strive to be different, to break conventions and to do so with one clear objective – one shared also by Derek Zoolander – to be noticed,” said FCA’s chief marketing officer, Olivier Francois. “Receiving the only gold in the Clio Key Art Awards ‘Theatrical Category’ for our partnership with Paramount Pictures shows that our marketing efforts continue to turn heads. We will maintain this approach as we passionately look forward to what’s down the road.”
