The Dodge Viper is easily the most iconic performance car the automaker has ever produced. Similarly, the Dodge Challenger and Charger Hellcat twins are quickly becoming two of the most well known Dodge products ever, so when a Hellcat and Viper lineup on the start line for a 1.4-mile showdown, we all win.
That’s exactly what went down recently at Raceway Park New Jersey. The track’s ‘Street Wars’ event, which is a “run what ya brung,” type day of racing open to both imports and domestics, saw a Challenger Hellcat lineup against a Viper for a sibling showdown.
We’ll be honest, we knew how this rivalry was going to end before it even started. The Viper might be lighter, but it simply stands no chance against the much more modern 707 horsepower Hellcat and its eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s unfortunately not even a close race, with the Hellcat crossing the finish line nearly full two seconds ahead of the Viper.
