The Alfa Romeo Giulia will spawn a wagon variant for Europe that will debut sometime in 2017, Automotive News reports.
The Giulia has been on sale in Europe and the UK since May of this year and has so far enjoyed fairly strong sales, but Alfa is leaving sales on the table by not offering a wagon. According to AN data, wagons account for 42 percent of premium midsize car sales in Europe, compared to 33 percent for sedans.
Neither Alfa nor Fiat Chrysler has confirmed the arrival of the Giulia wagon however sources indicated it would go on sale late next year. It’s not clear if the wagon would reach North American shores, as American and Canadian buyers don’t scoop up nearly as many wagons as European shoppers.
The Giulia wagon could be set for a debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show in March, or perhaps the 2017 Paris Auto Show in September. For now, Alfa Romeo will have to make-do with the four-door version of its sporty new compact.
