The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has awarded the 2017 Dodge Challenger with a five-star overall safety rating, the highest possible rating handed down by the safety agency.
The NHTSA has given the challenger a five-star safety rating every year since it waas launched in 2008.
Fiat Chrysler says its careful integration of high-strength steel into the Challenger’s body structure contributes largely to the vehicle’s safety, along with its front, side and rear curtain airbags.
The 2017 model year Challenger was also commended by the NHTSA for its available tech-based safety systems such as Forward Collision Warning, Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection.
“This proves the 2017 Dodge Challenger is much more than a great-looking car,” said head of vehicle safety and regulatory compliance at Fiat Chrysler, Mike Dahl. “It reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional occupant safety in every vehicle segment.”
The 2017 Dodge Challenger is available in a new T/A trim line and also introduces some new hardware for high performance SRT models. Click here to read more on the 2017 model year Challenger and here for the NHTSA’s full safety assessment of the muscle car.
