With a set of drag radials and some engine tuning, it’s not hard to get the 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger Hellcat to run shallow 9s. But everyone knows shaving seconds off your ¼-mile time becomes harder and harder the faster you want to go, so getting a Challenger to run very deep into the 9 second range is a much harder task.
The Challenger Hellcat in the video above, built by High Horse Performance of Smyrna, Delaware, recently eclipsed the fastest ever pass by a Hellcat (9.47 seconds) with a time of 9.26 seconds. It’s not clear which parts HHP has installed on their 1,000+ horsepower machine, but a quick look at their site reveals they tune nearly every aspect of the Hellcat, so we’re assuming they slapped just about every appropriate performance part they could on the sub 10-second ringer.
We’re sure it’s only a matter of time until HHP gets its 1,000+ horsepower HHP Challenger Hellcat into the 8-second range, but for now, watch the 1,000+ fat cat demolish the current ¼-mile pass record for Hellcats in the video embedded above.
