We’ve heard a wide range of rumors and predictions on the arrival of the Maserati Alfieri sportscar, but the latest bit of info points to the flagship sportscar arriving by 2018.
The Alfieri was shown in concept form at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show and was originally slated for a 2016 launch, but was pushed back until 2018. Some rumors indicated cash-strapped Maserati was going to push the two-door sportscar back even further, but Automobile says it remains on track for a 2018 debut.
The Alfieri will be sold alongside the next-generation Gran Turismo, which is also expected to launch in 2018. Both vehicles will be 2+2 coupes, however the Alfieri will feature more aluminum in its construction and will thus be lighter. Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne said in June that a full-electric version of the Alfieri could also arrive in 2019.
