The Goodwood Revival is one of the few places you can still see vintage racecars duke it out at ten-tenths. Unfortunately, sometimes things get a little hairy when driving on the absolute edge, and when you’re dealing with iconic racers of years gone by, that can make for some expensive wrecks.
At this year’s Goodwood Revival, a Jaguar E-Type nearly clocked a $30 million Ferrari 250 GTO trying to pass it on the inside. The Jaguar driver lost the rear of the car and ended up sliding towards the Ferrari’s back end, narrowly missing the valuable racecar and avoiding a potential disaster.
The owners of these cars know the risks involved with entering them in races, so we imagine they wouldn’t have been too upset had something gone wrong, but events like Goodwood are more fun when the cars involved remain in one piece.
Check out the near-wreck in the video above. You might want to have a clean change of trousers ready.
