This weekend marks the end of Formula 1’s European schedule as the grid heads to Singapore for the highly anticipated 2016 Singapore Grand Prix. The race, hosted under the stadium lights at the highly technical Marina Bay Street Circuit, has produced consistently exciting shows in its short seven year existence and this year’s is poised to be no exception.
Lewis Hamilton heads to Singapore leading the Formula 1 driver’s championship by two points over Mercedes-AMG Petronas teammate Nico Rosberg. Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo is third with 161 points, while the Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen trail in fourth and fifth with 143 and 136 points, respectively.
Mercedes predicted it would have trouble keeping up with Red Bull and Ferrari at Singapore and following the first two free practice sessions it seems that was only partially true. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo were fastest in FP1, respectively, however Rosberg was fastest in FP2 with Raikkonen second fastest. Right now, it looks like Singapore could produce a three-way shootout for the win.
