Fiat Chrysler supplier International Automotive Components Group’s site in Belvidere, Illinois is shutting down amid a slowdown in business, according to local CBS affiliate WIFR.
FCA recently ended production of the Dodge Dart at its site in Belvidere and is retooling the plant in order to produce the Jeep Cherokee. IAC was responsible for producing interior components for the Dart such as the instrument panel, center console, door panels and more.
In addition to the Dart, IAC produces interior components for the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivan. The company lists BMW, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Mercedes, Nissan, Toyota, Volkswagen and Hyundai/Kia as customers as well.
A total of 24 employees will be affected by the shutdown at IAC’s Belvidere location, which was first opened in 2011. The supplier has approximately 21,000 employees across its 33 manufacturing facilities and various design and technical centers in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
