Scuderia Ferrari has selected the maximum number of Pirelli Ultrasoft compound tires available to them for the 2016 Singapore Grand Prix this weekend.
Ferrari selected 9 Ultrasoft compound tires each for drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen. In addition, Vettel also took two Supersoft sets and two Soft sets, while Raikkonen took three Supersoft sets and one Soft set.
By comparison, championship leaders Mercedes selected seven Ultrasofts each for drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg. Red Bull Racing, who is expected to be competitive at the Marina Bay Circuit this weekend, selected seven Ultrasoft sets for Max Verstappen and six for Daniel Ricciardo.
Ferrari goes into the Singapore race weekend with high expectations after Vettel took victory at the street circuit in 2015. Similar to last year, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas squad isn’t expecting to display their usual dominance in Singapore, paving the way for either Ferrari or Red Bull to pick up a race win.
The 61-lap Singapore Grand Prix will go green on Sunday, September 18th at 8:00 p.m. local time, or 8:00 a.m. ET.
