In April some mysterious spy photos surfaced of a Dodge Durango with a particularly sporty-looking front end sitting on Fiat Chrysler property in Michigan. We suspected it was a mule for an upcoming Durango SRT, and if Automotive News is to be believed, we were right.
The Durango is set to receive some mild updates for the 2017 model year and included in that will be a performance oriented Durango SRT, AN reports. Like the non-Hellcat versions of the Charger and Challenger SRT, the Durango SRT will feature Dodge’s 485 horsepower 6.4-liter HEMI V8 under the hood, which will be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The photos taken this spring revealed a revised front end with larger openings for additional cooling. It also featured a series of three vents just below the main upper grille section, similar to the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT. Side skirts, a revised rear fascia and different wheels could also be in store.
More information on the Dodge Durango SRT should become available as its debut date nears. We’re expecting to see it either at the 2017 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, or the Chicago Auto Show in February.
