This year, Dodge and Roadkill partnered to host legal street races on Woodward Avenue as part of the popular Roadkill Nights event. The races were a hit, attracting thousand of automotive enthusiasts to Woodward Avenue a night before the annual Woodward Dream Cruise for a night of car fueled fun.
Woodward Avenue is no stranger to muscle cars, tire smoke and gasoline fumes. Throughout the 1950s, 60s and 70s, young people would show up to Woodward to race their friends between the lights. The fad died out amid Detroit’s economic downturn and the energy crisis, but this year, Dodge revived it – only this time it was legal.
For those that witnessed Woodward turn into an impromptu drag strip all those years ago, Roadkill Nights on Woodward Avenue was surely a special moment. Dodge has recapped the history making night in a short two-minute documentary, so be sure to check it out above.
