The Alfa Romeo Stelvio SUV is only a short time out, with a debut scheduled for the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show in November.
Alfa Romeo hasn’t been overly secretive in regards to the Stelvio. It confirmed the name of the compact crossover in February and one month later, Alfa Romeo CEO Harald Wester confirmed it would debut this fall.
“We announced – and this is going to be presented I would say in one of the important auto shows in Autumn – a more compact SUV for Alfa Romeo and this is also part of the answer,” Wester told Australia’s Motoring.com.au. at the time.
Today organizers of the LA Auto Show confirmed more than 50 vehicle debuts would happen at the show, including one from Alfa Romeo. The Stelvio is the only inbound product from Alfa, so you can be sure it will be there. The example to debut in LA could be the U.S. version, with the European spec Stelvio possibly being shown at next month’ Paris Auto Show.
The Stelvio will be based on the Giorgio platform that underpins the Alfa Romeo Giulia. It will also share the sedan’s engine range, which consists of 2.0-liter gasoline and 2.2-liter diesel engines. A Stelvio Qudrifoglio Verde powered by the Giulia QV’s 505 horsepower 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 will also arrive, Alfa confirmed earlier this year.
