Fiat Chrysler has announced its new UConnect infotainment system, available in the 2017 Dodge Challenger and Charger and 2017 Chrysler 300, will now feature 4G LTE connectivity.
FCA says 4G LTE in its newly introduced UConnect system will bring “more reliable network coverage, increased in-vehicle application responsiveness, plus faster network speeds for the connected services that Uconnect has to offer.” The previous UConnect system would run off a slower 3G internet connection.
“The advancement from 3G Network to 4G LTE network capability gives our customers a great opportunity to expand upon and explore the efficiency and convenience that our built-in connected services have to offer,” said FCA global head of connected services, Tricia Hecker. “As our Uconnect systems continue to develop new services and features, this increase of network connectivity allows our systems to evolve and progress as technology changes.”
The fourth-generation UConnect system, which benefits from a larger 8.4-inch touchscreen, better touch responsiveness and faster processing speeds, will initially launch in the Charger, Challenger and 300 before finding its way into other products in FCA’s portfolio.
