Each year Motor Trend rounds up the cars that participated in its Best Driver’s Car test, lines them up on an airstrip and has what they call ‘The World’s Greatest Drag Race.’ This year’s Best Driver’s Car field included the 2016 Dodge Viper ACR, but for the drag race portion of the test MT also rolled out a Dodge Charger Hellcat.
Understandably, the heavy four-door Charger wasn’t included in the track portion of Best Driver’s Car. For the drag race, MT swapped out the Aston Martin V12 Vantage S for the Hellcat as the Dodge is much more suited to drag racing duties. As fast as the Aston is, it was one of the slowest Best Driver’s Car entries in a straight line.
See how the 707 horsepower Hellcat fares against the world’s supercars in the video above. It doesn’t have anything on the absurdly quick Audi R8 V10 Plus, McLaren 570S and Nissan GT-R, but it manages to keep up with some very quick company despite its girth.
