Ferrari first showed the 599 SA Aperta at the 2010 Pebble Concours d’Elegance, where select customers were invited to view the car and sign up to purchase one of the 80 units to be built. That meant that every car had been accounted for by the time the car made its official debut ahead of the Paris Motor Show that fall, so even if you had enough to cover the $400,000 pricetag, it was still unlikely that you were going to get one.
In typical case of the wealthy getting wealthier, those loyal Ferrari customers invited to purchase one of the 80 599 SA Apertas have already quadrupled their investment in five short years. An ‘Avio Met’ blue 599 SA Aperta is currently for sale by Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale for an incredible $1,699,900. Another Aperta, a Bianco example for sale by Ferrari Maserati of Newport Beach is only slightly less expensive at $1,600,000.
The Avio Met example shows just 957 miles on the odometer and has been “been expertly maintained by Authorized Ferrari Dealers, and well-respected throughout its life,” according to the listing. The Bianco car has been similarly cared for and with 841 miles on the dash has been driven even less.
If you’re looking for a sound investment, maybe you should give Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale or Ferrari Maserati of Newport Beach a ring instead of your stock broker.
