For those not familiar with the sport, it can be hard to gauge just how talented Formula 1 drivers are. You might think, “Sure, they are the greatest drivers in the world, but with a bit of proper instruction, how much faster than me could they really be?” The answer is a lot. A whole lot.
Take the video above for example, which shows Scuderia Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel racing an ambulance driver in a time trial. The twist is that the ambulance driver is in a 670 horsepower Ferrari 488 GTB, while Vettel is in a diesel Renault ambulance.
The video starts with Vettel giving the medic some instruction in the 488 before turning him lose on a makeshift circuit to set a lap time. Vettel then has his turn at the same track in the ambulance and attempts to best the 488’s fast lap.
