The Nurburgring’s “Touristenfahrten,” days allow anyone to show up with their car and run it around the legendary 13-mile circuit. As long as it’s road worthy you can quite literally run anything you like, which makes for some interesting scenes out on the track as faster cars come up on slower traffic.
This video from a recent Touristenfahrten day, which comes courtesy of YouTube’s OneLapHeroes, is a good example of the scenes that can unfold during the open track days. Filmed from onboard a tuned Mazda Miata, the video shows a bearded man attempting to catch a 991 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and Ferrari 458 on the track in his much slower car.
With a bit of good driving, our Miata-driving friend finds himself right up the exhaust pipe of the Porsche, which is hanging onto the Ferrari in front. He manages to keep the gap small, but can he pass the two six-figure supercars in his tuned two-seater? Check out the video above to find out.
