The Shell Eco Marathon is a race hosted by the petroleum company that challenges student teams from around the world to create the most fuel-efficient vehicle they can.
Shell recently invited British automotive website Car Throttle out to its London Eco Marathon leg where they caught up with Scuderia Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen. Car Throttle had a rather humorous interview with everyone’s favorite Fin, which we’ve embedded below, but the interview was just the start of the weirdness.
While driving a Shell Eco Marathon car, Raikkonen and Car Throttle’s Alex Kersten managed to break the car. Raikkonen was driving and clipped a pretty pot hole, damaging the suspension and putting the fuel friendly competition entry out of commission.
Watch Raikkonen break the Shell eco car in the video above. Let’s hope things go a little more smoothly for him at this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
