German racing driver Frank Stippler, a gorgeous Maserati 250F and the Monaco Grand Prix circuit. Those are the ingredients that came together to create the video embedded above, and it’s every bit as magical as you might think it is.
Stippler got the chance to climb behind the wheel of the 250F at the recent Monaco Historique race. The 250F is one of the most legendary Formula 1 cars of all time, having taken wins in the hands of both Stirling Moss and Juan Manuel Fangio before Maserati left F1 in 1958.
The 250F was raced by privateer teams through to 1960, but was consistently outclassed by rear-engine entries like the Cooper T51. That’s not to take away from the car’s capability though – Moss called it the best front-engine F1 car of the era.
So, sit back and get ready to enjoy a glorious onboard video of one of the most iconic F1 cars of all time being hustled around what is easily the most recognizable circuit in all of F1. You can thank us later.
