Imagine you’ve just bought a 707 horsepower Dodge Challenger Hellcat and you turn up to a local drag racing event hosted at an out-of-use airstrip. You line up against a Volkswagen Golf R and the little euro hatchback promptly wallops your big, loud American muscle car. You’d be pretty embarrassed, right?
We’re hoping the owner of the Challenger Hellcat in the video above isn’t too sensitive, because that’s exactly what happened to them at a recent racing event. The Golf R in question was far from stock, featuring a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter VR6 engine producing about 745 horsepower, but we’re sure the loss was still a bit of a red-faced moment for our friend in the 6.2-liter two-door.
Check out the race in the video above. The video also features the stock 707 horsepower Hellcat lining up against other high-end machinery such as an R35 Nissan GT-R, a C7 Corvette Z06 tuned by BBM Motorsport and a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, but we’ll let you find out for yourself how the Mopar faired in those races.
