Maranello Motorsport has announced it will field a Ferrari 488 in the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour at Mount Panorama with Ferrari factory GT driver Toni Vilander at the wheel.
“We think the 488 will be a beast on the Mountain and we can’t wait to come back and challenge for another win,” Maranello Motorsport team owner Mark Coffey said in a statement. “The car has proven already to be extremely fast and by the time we get to Bathurst next February we’re confident it will be a contender.
The team has yet to announce who will join Vilander in the car for the endurance race. Maranello Motorsport won the 2014 Bathurst 12 Hour in a Ferrari 458 GT3 with V8 Supercars ace Craig Lowndes at the helm, along with Peter Edwards, John Bowe and Mika Salo.
“We’re pleased to welcome McDonald’s back [as the main sponsor] and also confirm Toni will be back to form part of our driving squad,” Coffey added. “He is an incredible talent and comes with the support of the factory in Italy so he is a valuable addition to our team.”
