Launch control is one of many electronic systems in cars nowadays that turns an average driver into a good one. In the past, launching a powerful manual transmission car was a delicate combination of clutch application and throttle modulation, but with cars like the 2017 Dodge Viper, it’s as simple as pushing a button.
To activate launch control in the Viper, you simply select first gear, push and release the ‘Launch’ button on the steering wheel, apply the throttle within a half-second and aggressively release the clutch. The traction control system will take charge and provide more grip as the car accelerates. The launch control system automatically disengage once 2nd gear is selected.
