Much like America, Australia loves a big, V8 powered muscle car. If you want proof, simply punch ‘Australian burnout competition’ into the YouTube search bar prepare to be endlessly entertained. You can thank us later.
A company based out of Melbourne is helping to appease Oz’s insatiable muscle car thirst by offering a right-hand drive Dodge Challenger Hellcat and Dodge Charger Hellcat conversion kit. The kit is also compatible with other Challenger and Charger variants, but the first they’ve done is on a black Challenger Hellcat.
The company, Crossover Car Conversions, refers to its conversion process as a “mirror image,” transferring all the components over to replicate the vehicle’s original engineering and design. It acknowledges “in some areas this is not possible,” but adopts “a safe approach to redesign when needed.”
You probably don’t need us to remind you of this, but the Challenger and Charger Hellcats are powered by Dodge’s 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat HEMI V8, which offers up 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Both a six-speed manual and eight-speed automatic transmission are offered, but this Aussie customer has elected for the auto.
