Bonhams says the owner of this 1943 Willy Jeep “had always promised himself,” that one of the iconic ex-military vehicles would find its way into his car collection.
Here at FC Authority, we’ve always thought that if we owned a car collection, we’d also include a Willys in it, and now we’re wishing we had the money to scoop up this excellent example.
According to Bonhams, who will auction the car at its upcoming Greenwhich Conbcours d’Elegance auction, this Willys underwent a full restoration at the hands of Ontario’s Willys Acres Inc in 2010. The restoration was comprehensive, with the owner requesting all the bells and whistles be added, including a period correct windshield rifle rack, capstan winch, ammunition box, radio and more.
The highlight of this lot, however, is the matching trailer. The trailer was sourced from a 1944 model year Willys, however it was restored alongside the Jeep to match it. There’s not many things cooler than a nicely restored Willys Jeep, but a Willys Jeep pulling a trailer definitely is.
