After sponsoring the event last year, Fiat Chrysler and Fiat have returned to serve as key sponsor to the second annual Motor City Pride Parade, a day long event celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) culture in the Detroit Metro area.
As part of the sponsorship, a 2016 Fiat 500X and 2017 Fiat 124 Spider will serve as the grand marshal vehicles of the parade, which will kick off on June 12th at Detroit’s Hart Plaza. A small booth will also be set up there providing information on Fiat and other FCA vehicles.
FCA says its LGBT business resource group, the Gay and Lesbian Alliance (GALA) is responsible for inspiring it to sponsor the Motor City Pride Parade. GALA also helps FCA employees “to express their special attributes together, while bringing awareness and value to the larger community through volunteer and charitable activities,” the automaker says.
“We are pleased to once again have a leading role supporting Motor City Pride, the largest LGBT event in the state of Michigan,” said Fiat North America brand director Bob Broderdorf. “Motor City Pride is among the many ways FCA US and Fiat Brand celebrates our inclusive work culture in which all members of our team are respected and fully engaged developing vehicles that resonate with diverse buyers and communities.”
FCA US say it was “a leader among U.S. employers in providing domestic partner benefits to its employees in 2000.” The automaker has also achieved a perfect score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index nine times since the scale was established.
