The true Mille Miglia road race hasn’t been run since 1957, but the spirit of the legendary event lives on in the current-day time-speed-distance rally of the same name. Just like the original 1,000 kilometre race, the world’s automotive manufacturer’s come out in droves to participate in the Mille Miglia, including Alfa Romeo.
Fiat Chrysler’s heritage collection sent vehicles from Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo to this year mille Miglia. Alfa stole the show, however, bringing out a 1956 1900 Super Sprint, 1954 1900 Sport Spider and the 1930 6C 1750 Gran Sport – which is a winner of the original Brescia-based endurance race.
Alfa has won the Mille Miglia eleven times, and now that the race is over and lives on simply as a reenactment, they have that bragging right for life. For that reason, they thoroughly enjoy showing up to the start line each year, as you’ll be able to tell from the recap video we’ve posted above.
